Steven Harvey Fine Art Projects is pleased to present the portraits of Dan Bern on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with live performances by the artist beginning at 5pm each day at the gallery, 208 Forsyth Street, NYC.

Bern is best known as a singer/songwriter, and storyteller who has released two-dozen albums, EP’s, and live recordings since his first in 1997. His songs have appeared in movies, TV shows, independent films, and been covered by The Who’s Roger Daltrey as well as composing the songs for The Stinky and Dirty Show, an Amazon Prime cartoon for children. He is a satirist, with a background in Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift, who merges his keen storytelling abilities with his unique and imaginative approach to songwriting and painting.

In 1998, Bern was given the opportunity to paint a room at the Carlton Arms Hotel in NYC.  He planned on staying a week or two but ended up spending eight months.  He has been painting ever since. His paintings, like his songs, get at the essence of people, many of them cultural icons. They often represent real-life “encounters.”

His paintings hang in the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and the Bob Feller Museum.  This exhibition of Bern’s paintings and songs will provide an intimate access into the artist’s world.
